Artist Statement

Douglas William (Wylyem) Moore

I invite anyone interested, to share the eternal circle of dissolution and resolution, which I have attempted to express through the medium of oil on canvas, or on panel.

Negative space becomes positive by the use of subliminal figures. Positive space becomes negative by the use of abstraction, with or without meaning. This creates a subconscious realization that the form and name of a subject are transitory, and interrelated.

Fortunately the language of paint speaks for itself, if allowed to flow freely.

It is not what you see, but that you see.
